Iowa heading towards legalisation of online gambling
The Governor of the U.S. state of Iowa passed a bill which could ultimately lead to legalisation of online poker on the state level. The bill contains changes to many aspects of the gambling and betting industry which has been subject to quite strict restrictions until recently. For example, if an operator submitted an intention to build a casino a referendum was necessary to obtain approval from local citizens, a process which would be automatically repeated every eight years. The new bill proposes that further referendums are not required if not specifically petitioned for. It also allows punters to deposit money in advance if they want to place bets on horses online. Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission will be allowed to perform a study into the possible regulation of online poker.
