Last weekend, the Corvette Racing team debuted its all-new GT2 class Corvette C6.R at the American Le Mans Series race at Mid-Ohio. The pair of Corvettes didn’t quite manage an overall class victory on the track but did finish second and forth. The #3 yellow and black Corvette of Johnny O’Connell and Jan Magnussen did, however, take advantage of its cellulosic ethanol fuel and good fuel efficiency to win the Michelin Green “X” challenge for the GT class. That’s the second green challenge win of the season for the pair, having achieved the same result at Sebring with the old GT1 car. In the prototype class, Gil de Ferran and Simon Pagenaud exhibited the best combination of carbon footprint, efficiency and on-track performance to take both the overall win and green challenge victory.
